About me (she/her)
I approach my therapeutic work with people who have experienced trauma and mental health challenges from a person-centred perspective rather than a pathology-centred perspective. I welcome working with LGBTQI+ and aim to create an accepting, safe and reflective space for my clients that is also disability-friendly. I enjoy getting to know the people I work with and assisting in the process of establishing healthy psychological processes such as clear communication, acceptance and self-compassion. I aim to bring sensitivity to a person’s unique cultural experiences and exposure to marginalisation and trauma. If and when a person is ready to work on processing trauma then this can be incorporated.
I am a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Supervisor registered with the Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). I completed my training in 2011 and have worked therapeutically with people who have experienced trauma and mental health challenges in a variety of settings. Aside from private practice, I have also worked at a specialist mental health service, an adult area mental health service, with asylum seekers and Forgotten Australians.
I work therapeutically with people who are struggling with difficult life events, relationships, emotions, grief and forming positive self-concept. I work with people who have been diagnosed or identify with:
Anxiety, depression, or mood-related issues
Trauma and trauma related diagnoses
Attachment difficulties and attachment related diagnoses
Dissociative experiences
Autism and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (including late diagnosed)
Women’s (or people born with ovaries) health issues
I have training in and draw upon the following therapeutic models:
Eye Movement De-sensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)
The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (Dr Bruce Perry)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills
The Body Keeps the Score: trauma, attachment and neuroscience - Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk
